| Place: The World Gaming Center (Doubling room) is the recommended game-site but "PAL Open" matches could be played in any other game-site according players' agreement. Signups: The Signups end on Thursday, October 30th, 2008. Match Format: All matches are single elimination. Early Rounds Round-1 matches: 9pt Round-2 matches: 9pt Round-3 matches: 11pt Last Rounds Golden-16 matches: 13pt Quarter-finals matches: 13pt Semi-finals matches: 15pt Final: 21pt Round time-limit: Early Rounds Step-1: November 2 - 9, Step-2: November 10 - 15 Step-3: November 16 - 21 Last Rounds Golden-16: November 22 - 27 Quarter-finals: November 28 - December 2 Semi-finals: December 3 - 6 Final: December 7 Entry: Each player should choose a nickname by which he/she will be known in this tournament. All players may only enter the "PAL Open" using his/her given nickname. Scheduling a match: Players can schedule their matches (at least 3 days before events extension) using the player e-mail links shown on Entered Players page. Players are responsible for scheduling and playing all matches within the given time. Players are also responsible for keeping all scheduling e-mail. The Directors may use this information to determine good faith effort. If an opponent does not respond into 3 days to scheduling e-mail, you may post a win on the due date, with explanation into the Comments text field. Boots: There are no boot limits, but a match must be played before the deadline of the given Round. The waiting player is expected to give their opponent a minimum of 15 minutes to return from a boot. If a player does not return, the match must be restored, re-scheduled and completed as soon as possible. The “bootee” player has the responsibility to re-schedule the match into 48 hours. If this doesn’t happen, the waiting player should post win with explanation. Match results: Players must report their own wins using Post Win page. To avoid various problems, please post the result within 24 hours of match completion, if possible. If there is a post win case because: “bootie”, not re-schedule match or not respond to scheduling e-mail, the winner explain this into the Comments text field (on Post Win page). Doubling: Auto doubles must be set to: OFF. Doubling is allowed unless the Crawford rule is in effect. The zone program handles this automatically. Please be careful when considering cube action. Kibitzing: Kibitzing must be left ON! Watchers may be silenced at any time, by either player. Match assistance is NOT permitted. Kibitzers are NOT allowed to give any kind of hint or advice to a player during a match. Players may NOT receive any help on their moves. Anyone found violating this rule will be disqualified. Post Result: Players must report wins using the "Post Win" form on Pal Anniversary Web Site within 24 hours of the match completion. In case of forfeit the reason must be added to comments. Intentional false posting is not appropriate and will result in immediate disqualification. As screenshots or game notations can be brought as a proof in case either player wishes to save the dice log or to take a screenshot the opponent should give time to do so and not leave the match right after last move. Disputes and various problems: All issues or problems that occur should be immediately brought by e-mail to the attention of the Directors, that has full authority to make any decisions to insure fairness. Directors have sole and full discretion to resolve individual situations. All decisions of the Directors are final. Resignations: If a player decide to leave “PAL Open" before play a match or for any other reason, must send a note to: palgammoners@yahoo.com (it will be very kind of him/her) Code of Games: Show good sportsmanship!
